Art Contest Guidelines and Submission Forms

Deadline for Entries

The deadline for all entries is Friday April 12th, 2019!

Entries received after the deadline will not be accepted. Only complete applications will be accepted. See the Contest Guideline and Information for application specifics. 


Copyright Law

Any artwork that depicts copyrighted images will be rejected. For example, no artworks depicting characters from television shows, movies, video games, or books will be accepted. All artwork must be original ideas and must be created entirely by the student.

Judging Criteria

The selection committee will consist of a panel of judges from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
The selection committee will review artwork submissions based on the following criteria:

  • Interpretation of the theme
  • Incorporation of healthy foods that match the category or categories the student is submitting artwork
  • Technical skill
  • Originality

Notification of Winners and Runners-Up

Finalists’ teachers will be notified around September for NSLW and January for the SBW category. It is the teachers’ jobs to contact and notify the student. The teacher will also receive all participation certificates and awards packages for the students.

Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English.

To file a program complaint of discrimination, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, (AD-3027) found online at: http://www.ascr.usda.gov/complaint_filing_cust.html, and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form.
