2022 Texas Summer Mandate Notification and Waiver

" January 1, 2022 - Schools with 50% or more of the enrolled children eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program should submit their intent to operate Summer Meal Programs for summer 2022 or submit a mandate waiver request in TX-UNPS by the January 31, 2022 deadline.

January 1, 2022 - Texas Legislation requires school districts to participate in a summer meal program if 50% or more of the enrolled children are eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program based on the March 2020 claim. All mandated school districts will receive email notification of the requirement as well as instructions for submitting their intent in TX-UNPS.

Please submit your intent for summer 2022 or submit a mandate waiver request in TX-UNPS by the January 31, 2022 deadline. More information as well as the instructions, list of mandated CEs, and the letter that CEs received can be found here.
