March 1, 2022 - This new rule establishes standards for milk, whole grains, and sodium for school years 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 to give schools time to transition in the short term. Changes include:
• Milk: CEs may offer flavored, low-fat flavored milk
• Whole Grains: 80% of grains must be whole-grain rich (containing at least 50% whole grains) across each meal time
• Sodium: Sodium target 1 remains in effect for SY 22-23. A 10% reduction in sodium amounts for lunch only for SY 23-24.
