2015-16 NSLP Reimbursement Rates  Minimize 
These rates are effective from July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2017.



Lunch

  • Paid - $0.30
  • Reduced - $2.76
  • Free - $3.16

 

Contracting entities serving at least 60 percent free and reduced-price lunches in school year 2014-2015 will receive a 2-cent supplemental lunch reimbursement. In addition, contracting entities certified to receive the performance-based cash assistance will receive an additional 6 cents added to the lunch reimbursement. These additional reimbursements will be applied and paid automatically to eligible contracting entities through the Texas Unified Nutrition Programs System (TX-UNPS).



After School Care Program

  • Paid - $0.07
  • Reduced - $0.43
  • Free - $0.86

 

USDA Foods Published Rate Of Assistance

  1. SY 2017 Commodity Meal Rate - The published rate for the period July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017, is $0.23 for NSLP schools. 
  2. USDA added an additional $0.09 to the SY 2017 Commodity Meal Rate to include the shortfall in USDA purchases for SY 2016 for a national rate of $0.32 cents per meal.
  3. Texas' rate is currently estimated at $0.3372 per meal.

Breakfast 
  • Paid - $0.29

Breakfast - Severe Need*

  • Reduced - $0.33
  • Free - $0.33

 

*Contracting Entities (CEs) may qualify and apply for Severe Need Breakfast reimbursement in addition to the regular breakfast reimbursement for each of their sites. Within a CE, some sites may be eligible for severe need funding and others may not. For a site to be eligible, at least 40 percent of its total lunches served in school year 2014-2015 must have been free or reduced. There are instances where a new school may qualify for Severe Need Breakfast reimbursement.   • Pricing Programs With Free Option- Free Milk = Average Cost per Half-pint of Milk
  • Nonpricing Programs - All Milk $0.1975

Note: Reimbursement cannot exceed the cost of the milk.
