The National School Lunch Week (NSLW) 2022 materials showcase the theme: Get Your Day in Gear with a Healthy School Lunch.

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has created materials that enable you and your staff to easily promote participation in National School Lunch Week (NSLW), October 10-14. We encourage you to participate this year to help brighten your meal service this fall.


Below you can access digital materials and also order printed resources to display in your school's cafeteria to help boost student participation. Spanish Materials are Coming Soon!

NSLW Activity Sheets
Elementary Activity Sheets - Fun, age appropriate puzzles and games engage students in learning about nutrition and agriculture. Materials feature the winning artwork from the You Art What You Eat contest’s elementary school division. Click Here for the Spanish Resource.
NSLW Facebook Facebook Cover Photos - To complement other social media outreach efforts, change your school’s Facebook cover photo to help market NSLW all month long! Just upload the corresponding grade level cover photo and start telling all the school’s Facebook friends about NSLW. This is another great way to inform parents of the upcoming celebration. Logo Lockup - This NSLW logo lockup contains the tagline that can be utilized on school websites, newsletters and other materials created in house by districts that can be utilized in classrooms and the cafeteria.
Morning Announcement Morning Announcements - Daily NSLW announcements combine learning about good nutrition with building excitement for the event. Morning announcements can be read over the intercom or displayed on school TVs. Students of all ages can participate in this activity and TDA encourages schools to involve students. TDA has tailored these announcements for an intermediate reading level (grades 4 – 8) so younger students should be able to read them. Quick tip: a good way to encourage students to participate is to host a contest where the winners get to read the morning announcements during NSLW. Click Here for the Spanish Resource.


Parent Information Flyer with Suggested Theme Days - The flyer can be distributed via email or printed and sent home with students. The flyer gives parents a chance to support your NSLW efforts and encourage their children to participate. The theme days help generate buzz around the celebration, especially for middle and high school students. Schools can document all the fun outfits for TDA’s success story features! An alternative to printing the flyer is placing a link in an electronic school newsletter. You can also promote theme days using your school’s different communication platforms by simply copying and pasting the ad to your school’s website or asking teachers and staff to include this advertisement in all their communications to parents.

 Recipe Book - This recipe book provides ingredients, step by step instructions, portions and much more so so cafeteria staff can replicate the NSLW suggested menu items for their students. Recipes can be customized to fit your service style from traditional on the line to grab and go! 


Press Release Press Release - Use this fillable press release to alert your community to what you are doing to celebrate National School Lunch Week.
NSLW Social Posts Social Media Ads - TDA’s high-quality social media ads are suitable for all the outlets your district supports including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The ads focus on building curiosity for the upcoming campaign and announcing that the week has arrived. Consider linking your online post to the TDA suggested hashtag #TXNSLW. NSlW Web Banner Site/Web Banner - To publicize NSLW celebrations for the entire community, add this site banner to your school’s home page. The site banner can also be added to school newsletters to capture the attention of parents. Click Here for the Spanish Resource.

National School Lunch Week Button Site/Web Button (Animated)- To publicize NSLW celebrations for the entire community, add this site button to your school’s home page. Teachers can add the button to the bottom of their signature lines so it is visible with outgoing emails. Click Here for the Spanish Resource.

NSLW Menu Suggested Menu K-8 and Suggested Menu 9-12 - The suggested menu features a different theme each day that fits Blast Off with a Healthy School Lunch. The suggested menu contains recipes ranging from basic to more sophisticated. Take your parent to lunch day invite
"Take Your Parent to Lunch Day" Invitation - The invite is prefilled with the national take your parent to lunch day date (October 12th). Schools must prefill in their student’s lunch times before printing. There are two invite per 8.5” x 11” paper. English on the front and Spanish on the back. Invite will need to be printed and cut in half down the middle.


Assistance available in English and Spanish. Please call 877-TEX-MEAL (877-839-6325) for help. Additional translations services available as well.

The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
