" In the absence of a published NSLP USDA Foods Rate of Assistance, school districts should use the 2024-2025 Rate of Assistance of $0.45 when calculating adult meal prices. If the rate increases for 2025-2026, districts are not required to adjust these prices. "
On July 24, meal reimbursement rates for the School Nutrition Programs were published in the Federal Register and subsequently posted on the applicable SquareMeals Reimbursement Rates pages. The Cash-in-Lieu value of USDA Foods and the USDA Foods Rate of Assistance, however, have not yet been published. School districts must factor in the Rate of Assistance when calculating the prices of adult meals. TDA is advising school districts to use the 2024-2025 rate of $0.45 when calculating adult meal prices, as this is the current value published at the beginning of the school year. School districts that establish their prices now will not be required to make an adjustment if the Rate of Assistance increases for the upcoming school year.
