CACFP and SFSP Nutrition Standards Webinar May 16
On Thursday, May 16, from 1 PM – 2 PM CST, USDA is partnering with the National CACFP Sponsors Association to offer a webinar for CACFP and SFSP program operators specifically introducing the provisions of the final rule impacting CACFP and SFSP. USDA Foods for Further Processing
As of April 30, processing transfer opportunities have concluded. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) will conduct a redistribution of pounds for all processing accounts on June 30. Extreme Heat/Air Quality Non-Congregate Waivers Available in Summer 2024
USDA has approved TDA's request to allow SFSP or SSO non-congregate service on days in which a Heat Advisory, Heat Warning, or Air Quality Index "purple" flag is issued. All operators must notify TDA via the Extreme Heat/Air Quality Non-Congregate Waiver Request form (updated version coming soon) and submit the form for each day that non-congregate meals were served. "And Justice for All" Poster - Updated Guidance
USDA has confirmed that there is no release date scheduled for new "And Justice for All" (AFJA) Civil Rights posters. All operators should use the 2019 version. Operators that no longer have the 2019 version can print the original 2019 version from SquareMeals or a slightly updated version from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service website. Rural Summer Non-Congregate Request Form and Resources Available April 5
On April 5, TDA is opening up the request form for eligible SFSP and SSO operators who want to serve non-congregate summer meals in rural areas this summer. Please refer to the Summer Non-Congregate Feeding Program page on SquareMeals to access the form, updated site mapper, and important FAQs about participation eligibility and requirements. TDA will be hosting a webinar on April 17 to go over these requirements in detail. RELEASE: 2024-2025 Income Eligibility Guidelines
The 2024-2025 Income Eligibility Guidelines (IEGs) and associated forms for all child nutrition and household programs have been released and posted to SquareMeals.org. Participant income applications that also contain the IEGs will be released closer to their effective date of July 1, 2024. RELEASE: School Data for Area Eligibility Report
TDA must, on an annual basis, publish a list of schools participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) in which at least one-half of the children are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. The School Data for Area Eligibility 2023-2024 report, based on October 2023 claims data for non-CEP schools and the April 2023 CEP ISP report for CEP schools, has been posted to SquareMeals. ACTION REQUIRED – Validation of all Unaffiliated CACFP At-Risk Sites
In efforts to ensure that all sponsors of unaffiliated CACFP At-Risk sites are providing the proper operational oversight over the management and administration of the food program at those sites, and to ensure that sponsors are properly procuring meal vendors and FSMCs at At-Risk locations, TDA is requiring all sponsors of unaffiliated At-Risk sites to complete a questionnaire/attestation form.
